The Art of Garbage Collector Tuning - Workshop
Over the past couple of years, substantial effort has been invested
to continually improve the garbage collection algorithms of the Sun/Oracle
JVM. Almost every JVM release came with extensions and enhancements
of existing GC techniques or added novel algorithms. Meanwhile a
Java developer has to cope with a confounding variety of garbage collectors
and their countless configuration parameters.
This workshop aims to shed some light onto the garbage collection issues
in the Sun/Oracle JVM (including JVM release 7.0). We will
explore the various garbage collectors that are available today and will
discuss strategies for effective garbage collection tuning. An example
will be used to explore the tuning techniques in practice. |
